Documentation

Description:

This information standard makes provision for the data held within the FGM-IS to be made available to all relevant healthcare staff by allowing integration of a view only capability of the family history indicator within all applicable IT systems across all health care services. This will allow fully integrated local query and response access to national FGM-IS data.

About this change

This release makes the following changes:

  • a change in scope to mandate implementation in NHS funded primary care settings only
  • a new mandatory requirement to display FGM-IS for any patient regardless of gender identity
  • a new optional requirement to store the family history indicator locally (but only where it is associated with a clear date and time stamp indicating when FGM-IS indicator was retrieved from the core FGM-IS system)

Note that the name of the standard has been changed to Female Genital Mutilation - Information Sharing (FGM-IS), from FGM RIS (Risk Indication System), to reflect the change in clinical practice.
